Shatby Underwater Site

ANCIENT ROYAL QUARTER

A submerged site off the coast east of the Eastern Harbour, within the historic heart of ancient Alexandria's waterfront. Its location makes it one of the most promising underwater contexts for material from the ancient city.

Shallalat public gardens lie within the ancient Royal Quarter of Alexandria where the fabled Mouseion, Great Library, and the royal necropolis where located. It ranks among the most anticipated excavations in the world.
