DR. HARRY TZALAS
Founder and President of the Hellenic Institute for Ancient and Medieval Alexandrian Studies, Athens. He has led the Greek Mission’s underwater archaeological investigations along Alexandria’s eastern coastline for over 20 years, directing more than 30 field campaigns.
DR. EIRINI CHRYSOCHERI
Marine Archaeologist at the Hellenic Institute of Ancient and Medieval Alexandrian Studies and Lecturer in Maritime Archaeology at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) in Rhodes. She has worked alongside Harry Tzalas on the Greek underwater mission along Alexandria’s eastern coastline.
DR. KALLIOPI PAPAKOSTA
Greek Classical Archaeologist and PhD candidate at Corfu University. Since 2000, she has led excavations in Alexandria and directs the Hellenic Research Institute of Alexandrian Civilization (H.R.I.A.C). She is best known for her work at the Shallalat Gardens excavation, uncovering remains of Alexandria’s ancient Royal Quarter.
DR. MOHAMED AWAD
An architect by profession and a lecturer in the Department of Architecture at Alexandria University, Dr. Awad founded the Alexandria Preservation Trust in 1985, a privately funded NGO to promote the preservation of Alexandria's heritage.
DR. PAOLO GALLO
Professor of Egyptology at the University of Torino and Director of the Italian Archaeological Institute at Aboukir, Egypt. Dr. Gallo has been the director of the Italian archaeological mission to Nelson Island, located about 11 miles from the Alexandria city center, since 1998.
DR. GEORGE PAPATHEODOROU
Dean of the School of Natural Sciences, and Professor of Environmental and Geological Oceanography at the University of Patras, he has recently been conducting marine geoarchaeological research in submerged Phoenician ports in Lebanon.
DR. ASMAA ABDALLAH
An Egyptian Physical Anthropologist in the Department of Anthropology, Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University, and a Bioarchaeologist with Egypt’s Ministry of Antiquities. She specializes in the study of human remains and past populations through physical and dental anthropology.
DR. KYRIAKOS SAVVOPOULOS
Research Fellow and Tutor in the Faculty of Classics, Oxford University. Since 2014, he has been working as researcher and co-editor on the Corpus of Ptolemaic Inscriptions from Egypt (CPI) project.
DR. ATHANASIOS KOUTOPOS
A PhD expert on religious studies, history and archaeology, especially of the Graeco-Roman and Early Christian eras in Eastern Mediterranean.
